| Friday, Aug 30, 2002 Levi's "Rub Yourself" ad campaign is brilliantly sexy added the highly interactive promo site, is mad. Rarely will I get goose bumps from seeing commericals. But they are doing a great job at making Levi's appealling again. This is most likely available only in the European markets as North Americans has yet to accept the Engineered jeans. I find them to be the most comfortable jeans around, it's less restricting than traditional cut jeans. For as long as I can remember, I've never bought a pair of brand new jeans before, but when they first came out in Canada, I spent over $120 for a pair and never regretted the purchase. ♥ posted by piperboy 9:20pm EST |

| Sunday, Aug 25, 2002 V24 hour party people is the anti-Doors film. It is not a film about Joy Division, the band that put Manchester on the map as a reservoir of artists likely to revolutionize rock. If Ian Curtis fans are disappointed to hear only Joy Division's greatest hits on the soundtrack, it's because Winterbottom does not want to only address the initiated. His film attempts to paint a portrait of the principal figure of this period, Tony Wilson, an exuberant journalist and host on Granada TV (where he still works), and future cofounder of Factory records. In 1976, Wilson and a small crowd attend the concert of an unknown band: the Sex Pistols. Feeling the energy released on stage, he declares that this moment is historical. His intuition won't fail him since the bands he will sign with Factory Recordsa label he co-founded with Alan Erasmus and Rob Grettonwill change the face of rock by revitalizing it with a new sound. Joy Division's first album, Unknown pleasures, carried by its singles "Atmosphere", "Transmission", and especially "Love will tear us apart", was a hit. Even after the suicide of charismatic singer Ian Curtis, the band continued to influence the world of rock music when the other members then formed New Order (now on tour promoting their new album). The film moves from one era to anotherwe witness the first raves, the cult of the DJ, on through the glory years of the Haienda, a nightclub whose fame exceeded the borders of Manchester. It goes until Wilson's fall, a victim of his excesses and the freedom he granted to some of his protgs such as Happy Mondays (whose frontman Shaun Ryder is a notorious drug addict). ♥ posted by piperboy 7:32pm EST |

| Wednesday, Aug 21, 2002 For the past couple of weeks, I've been assigned to a pretty interesting project. It's a flash demo of a first gynecological visit. I've been spending every waking minute drawing vaginas and breast, this ensures on lookers a good laugh or two. So far it's coming along a bit slow, but hopefully it will be completed soon. I'm actually pretty anxious to see the completion of this demo as it will definitely a conversational piece, for sure!! ♥ posted by piperboy 11:46pm EST |
| Sunday, Aug 11, 2002 Signs was amazingly good. After hearing a few people's dislike of the slow pace drama, I had some reservations going into the theatre. Dispite what some people say, I thought this movie was rather enjoyable. Much more so than the unwatchable Unbreakable with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson. The minial visual violence, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. M. Night really left the imagination to us the movie goers, which is very refreshing in an age where we are constantly bombarded with so much images and information, that our brains doesn't have to work too much.

| Friday, Aug 9, 2002 Global warming is caused by the build up of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere - this acts like a huge duvet, trapping heat from the sun and slowly raising the temperature of the Earth's climate. Levels of CO2 in the atmosphere have risen by a third since industrial times, and are expected to double in the next hundred years. This build up of CO2 is caused by almost everything we do - driving, flying, heating our homes, and even boiling the kettle. And as the use of technology increases around the world, there will be a corresponding rise in the demand for energy. In fact, world energy use is forecast to increase fourfold by 2050. The aim of the Kyoto Protocol was to get governments around the world to reduce greenhouse gas levels by agreeing to cut emissions by 5.2%. That's like driving toward a brick wall at 100 miles per hour and slowing to 95mph - it's a start, but it's not enough.

| Tuesday, Aug 6, 2002 Did you know that every time you buy something made or grown in a developing country, you take part in a billion pound scam? As it works today, the global trading system rips off people who are already poor.
You don't want it. They certainly don't want it. Together, we can change it.
Maketradefair.comgives a voice to the farmers, labourers, and factory workers who are being cheated by the blatantly unfair rules of world trade. And it gives a voice to you, the consumer, if you want to join them in the call to end exploitation and make trade fair. ♥ posted by piperboy 8:59pm EST |

| Sunday, Aug 4, 2002 Austin Powers GoldMember, has got to be the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. From Opening to the end was filled with hilarious jokes, perhaps too much to be taken in by single viewing. Once I got to anaylise the film (hours after I got home) I figured there were many plot holes that didn't make much sense. But who cares, I laughed my ass off the entire time. Let's hope the fourth installment will be filled with as much funny moments. It was the finals of the Tennis Masters Series, with 12 Seed Andy Roddick playing unseeded Guillermo Canas, it was somewhat exciting except it was obvious that Canas was a better player today, his game was almost flawless with an incredibly few unforced errors, and winning most of the long rallies. He basically out smarted Roddick with his cunning play. Although, Roddick is physically stronger player, he needs some mental maturity in his game and needs to adapt to the conditions. For a young man who has only played professional tennis for a year and a half, he's done really well in my book.♥ posted by piperboy 11:11pm EST |
| Friday, Aug 2, 2002 TBWA ChiatDay UK , has an impressive showcase of work. I especially enjoyed the Playstation spots and the Beer ads. I find them to be much more intelectual than the ones done in North America, and rely less on shock value and T & A, guess that saids a lot about our culture here. It's another long weekend, yay. I hope the weather is nice. ♥ posted by piperboy 9:58pm EST |
| Thursday, Aug 1, 2002 This week is the Tennis Masters Series at York University. It's always fun to wonder around the camp grounds and take in all the matches. I'm a big fan of the sport, and have been watching every since I was in high school. I've always enjoyed women's tennis more, mainly because of Martina Navatalova's rivalry with Chris Evert and Steffi Graf. Lately the women's games are so predictable it's not even interesting anymore. Men's tennis has more depth with a bigger range of players and more surprises. Although most will argue that men's game have been suffering for the lack of consistancy of the top ranked players. The only one that is consistant most of the time is Lleyton Hewitt, winning 2 grand slam within the last 4 games. While on the topic of sports, I've let my addiction get to me and have been watching the Commonwealth games which started last week. Althought the cover on this time isn't as good as the Olympics, I'm getting a dose of international competition. Canada has some 66 medals and are expecting at lease 30 more. ♥ posted by piperboy 8:49am EST |
