Thursday May 30, 2002 Work is sucking ass big time, all the people I enjoy talking to and working with are leaving. They have hired a shit load of people, it's only a matter of time they will develop the same animosity towards this shithole of a company. On the bright side, I am expected to have a couple of freelance gigs lined up within the next couple of weeks. I just want more of that so I can leave.♥ posted by piperboy 11:50pm EST
Wednesday May 24, 2002 This month is going by so fast, I hardly had time to work on anything on my spare time. Work has been steady, and very busy lately, but it's the same old crap, not challenging anymore. Our creative group has hired a shit load of management, 3 creative directors, 1 Design Director, 1 Managing Design Director, it's a bit strange for a mid size company to have such a big senior management team. Creatively I am feeling refreshed and doing more illustrations and better design work. Hopefully I will have something to show soon Tomorrow will be the last game of the Eastern Conference of the NHL and the Leafs have done pretty well, but I have a feeling that they will be blown away by the hurricanes. It's really sad that the last of the Canadian teams will have to go home empty handed. Last weekend was the premiere of Star Wars Episode II, I was really dissapointed by it. I was never a big fan of any of the films, although I do remember seeing them in theatre when I was a small boy. The dialogue seemed more like it was written for a bad teen romance movie. While the action sequence was amazing, to bad it was all stuck at the end. I would have liked it better if they just cut out all that romance crap, especially the wedding scene. Lucas laid another big stinker!! ♥ posted by piperboy 11:50pm EST
Wednesday May 08, 2002 Ontario College or Art & Design's "Super Build Project" looks pretty ambitious for a school that has been in financial trouble for quite some time. It had been one of the leading art colleges in Canada, but in recent years has been laggin behind. With the expansion initiative, surely it will help win back some prestige and hopefully reclaim some former glory. The new building will start this year, and looks quite futuristic. It's elevated on tubular steel structures, hovering over the original building. With it's completion, will definitely add some interest to this city's otherwise dull landscape. ♥ posted by piperboy 12:50am EST
Tuesday May 07, 2002 Dreams. What are they? An escape from reality or reality itself? Waking Life follows the dream(s) of one man and his attempt to find and discern the absolute difference between waking life and the dreamworld. While trying to figure out a way to wake up, he runs into many people on his way; some of which offer one sentence asides on life, others delving deeply into existential questions and life's mysteries. We become the main character. It becomes our dream and our questions being asked and answered. Can we control our dreams? What are they telling us about life? About death? About ourselves and where we come from and where we are going? The film does not answer all these for us. Instead, it inspires us to ask the questions and find the answers ourselves. posted by piperboy 8:50pm EST
Spidey-Day May 03-04, 2002 "Who am I? I'm Spider-Man" This movie is f-ing awesome!! From Beginning to end, absolutely stunning visual FX and definitely made for multiple viewings!! I really enjoyed the way Tobey Maguire's character transformed from geekdom to super hero, he really did an amazing job. It didn't seem forced nor boring, everything fell into place just right. If I had my way, I would've cut the sappy parts, no more drama!! This is easily one of the best films I've seen all year,(with the exception of LOTR). I liked the added of some light hearted humor, J.K. Simmons from OZ and Law and Order does a great job as Mr. Jameson, he has some really good comedic timing. Watching a movie on opening night brings me back to the days of High school and University. I have to say I didn't miss that much either.♥ posted by piperboy 1:34am EST
Thursday, May 02, 2002 Eventhough I only have 5 channels, I do watch a lot of T.V. Well I have it on as background noise while I work or clean. One of the most disturbing commercials I've seen as of lately, is the one for canandian Home depot. It features actual store employees who've won medals at the SLC Winter Olympics. Only in Canada are our athletes so under appreciated/valued, that they have to take up low paying jobs to make ends meet. Most countries offer cash rewards for medals won, but not us, we make them work joe jobs and pay them peanuts for bringing glory home. It's no wonder we do so poorly in these competitions, they are all too tired from working PT jobs and train. I for one would like to see more money spend on sport facilities for our future athletes. ♥ posted by piperboy 5:27pm EST
Wednesday, May 01, 2002 I usually don't watch much hockey, except during the Olympics. But tonight I caught the last 10 mins of the game between New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs. I have to say that I'm really happy that we kicked their ass. Serve them right for booing our anthem, especially with all that we did after the 9 11 attack. They are such arrogant bastards!! ♥ posted by piperboy 1:32am EST
